With the objective of promoting and encouraging reading and book edition, the UANL Editorial House has a variety of special projects, alliances with Mexican editorials and activities that encourage reading.

Competitions and Awards

Gonzo National Journalism Award
In alliance with Producciones El Salario del Miedo publishing house, the UANL Editorial House organizes this award every year to celebrate the best longform journalism and chronicle texts written in our country. The themes portray the contrasts of our country and the many ways of telling a story. You can read here.

Bengala Award
Together with Agencia Bengala, the UANL Editorial House supports the writing of original scripts for film and television. This collaborative project has been possible thanks to critical views on cinema and storytelling.

Editorial Merit Award
Every year, the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon gives the Editorial Merit Award, to a national editor and a regional editor from Monterrey. The delivery of this diploma occurs during the UANLeer Fair and and in the celebrations of the International Book Day. We also honor university editors of magazines and other University institutions.

Visits

The University Book House also opens its doors to schools, book clubs and groups of bookmakers. They just need to call us and set a date. (This service has been interrumpted due to the present pandemic).

Dialogues and events

Dialogue cycles at Casa Universitaria del Libro
In order to serve as a bridge between readers and writers, between university students and the community, meetings, readings and book presentations are showcased at Casa Universitaria del Libro. The programming of the cycles changes every year, but others are maintained.

Los Aguascalientes in Monterrey: This cycle brings together poets who won the Aguascalientes National Poetry Award to visit us and chat with us about what poetry, creation and its derivatives are.

Annual Celebrations
Casa Universitaria del Libro also celebrates several dates a year such as:International Book and Copyright Day and the anniversary of its foundation in February. We have a celebration in September for the national holidays, with the event La Casa por la Ventana featuring varied activities and special discouns; On November 2nd we honor our deceased authors with a Day of the Dead Altar and at Christmas we close the activities with the Posada & Libros celebration.
